When planning a birthday party for your little one, your first step would usually be to select a party theme. Party themes are limitless and vary from a Pink Princess Party to a blue Under The Sea party. This week we are sharing some tips on how to pick a colour scheme. You can mix colours or choose just the one colour and layer with different shades. This is a great way to have a theme but to keep it subtle. 

Pick a Colour, Any Colour!

Starting to build a colour palette for a birthday party is as easy as selecting your or your child's favourite colour! and you do not have to stick with pinks for girls and blues for boys, mix things up abit! However there are a few tips that designers (and party planners) follow to perfecting a colour palette. 

Always opt for a neutral background, a white wall or plain tablecloth is perfect and use thsi as a blank canvas to add colours to.  You can also opt for a trendy natural colour like grey. Grey pairs beautifully with both pastels or bright colours like hot pink, orange and green. Limiting your palette to four colours is the best strategy when planning a party. We have selected a pastel pink, blue, purple and green to create a pastel party palette of four colours as shown with these pom poms. 

To start, select your favourite pastel colour from our block coloured  essential partyware and use the remaining three colours for decor and accessories. You can be sure that you will love your party decoration if you choose your favourite colour. Your favourite colour will be the base of the colour scheme and the remaining colours will harmonize with this.
