Its that time of year again to start planning my sons fifth birthday party. From experience I always find it easier to choose a theme together closer to the time and then stick with it. Talk about the details with the birthday child often to remain focused. Here's a quick look back at Kian’s 4th birthday party last October. I was delighted when he agreed to a theme of Mr. Men (Octonauts, Paw Patrol, Trashies) were all in the running but I was delighted when he settled on Mr. Men with a little help.
Once the theme was chosen the rest fell into place. About 3 weeks before the party, I ordered the cake from the lovely Nadia of Nadia’s cakes and cupcakes and she did a wonderful job. My dear friend Lisa Weilgosz of “Baby loves to travel” blog did some gorgeous invites and printables for this theme. My husband made the piñata and loved doing this with the kids. I picked out all the supplies from www.party camel.com and decided on a 10am party by our pool as it’s still pretty hot in October in Dubai. I sat down with the birthday boy and we chose the food together. A selection of mini breakfast pastries, mini quiche, fruit skewers, fresh juices and coffee. On the day it didn’t take me long to do the set-up, some bunting, balloons and themed decorations were all that was needed. After a welcome drink, a bite, some coloring the kids then jumped into the very welcoming chilled pool. It was hard to get them out again and there wasn’t much need for more entertainment. We had got some t-shirts made, Mr. Tickle for my husband and the kids loved him going around tickling everyone bar the mums. And birthday boy had a Mr. Cool T. shirt but of course ;)
